At Zula Kids, we believe every child has a story to tell. Reading and writing help children discover and explore their worlds, bringing joy, fulfillment, and even the potential to transform their communities. Yet, for many children across Africa, books are rare treasures, and opportunities to read are limited. This is why we are thrilled to lead a special book collection campaign in partnership with the Voorschoten & Wassenaar Library for children in Uganda.
Launched on 1 September, the campaign is gathering children’s and youth books for Temple Talents Centre in Soroti, a community-based organization that works with children in underserved neighborhoods. The response so far has been incredible! Families and community members across Voorschoten and Wassenaar in the Netherlands have generously donated books and other study materials.

The campaign runs until 1 October and will culminate in a ceremonial handover at 14:00 hrs at the Voorschoten & Wassenaar Library. From there, the books will be shipped to Soroti, where they will find new homes in the hands of eager young readers, sparking imagination, building confidence, and opening doors to worlds they may never have seen before.
This drive is about more than just books. It is about nurturing dreams, creating opportunities, and building a culture of reading. Each donated book is a seed of possibility for children who may not otherwise have access to learning resources, helping them to dream bigger and believe in themselves.
We are grateful to all the generous donors in the Netherlands, and to our partners at Temple Talents, who we are confident will ensure the books reach the children who need them most. Together, we are showing that building a brighter future for children knows no borders—it takes a village, and sometimes that village spans oceans
